Heineken Greenspace was set up last year as an international cultural regeneration initiative of the urban spaces with the city of Valencia as the first venue of the event. This year the capital of Turia will also be hosting the second year of Heineken Greenspace, which begins on 2nd November and yet again backs young creativity and aims to give space to more original ideas as regards design, music and audiovisual creation.

The new edition of the region of Valencia's Gran Prix, the final race counting towards the World Motorcycle Championships, will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th of October at the racing circuit Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo.
The Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana, which bears the name of the Valencian World Motorcycle Champion Ricardo Tormo, is situated in Cheste just outside the city of Valencia. The Valencian circuit covers a total land surface area of a million and a half kilometers square, only 20 km from Valencia and 15 from the airport in Manises. Its privileged location allows it to benefit from a wide range of communications.
This 27th year of the La Mostra backs independent and Mediterranean cinema. Its seasons on Greek, French, Valencia and Blasco Ibañez cinema added to the Official Contest Section make an attractive proposal for enjoying films. This year the number of showings and of films has been increased and there are 49 works aspiring to the awards. Moreover, as with each year, the Mostreta season, devoted to the little ones with an exhibition of five children's films, will be on offer.
The institutional concert commemorating the Region of Valencia Day will open the programme of the Palau de les Arts de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (Palace of the Arts of the City of the Arts and Sciences). The majestic building designed by Santiago Calatrava will, thus, be turned into the world centre of music.
After the inaugural concert on 8th October, the Palau de les Arts will continue its programme with the representation of the opera Fidelio by Beethoven on 25th, 28th and 31st October and 3rd and 7th November.
Veles e Vents (Sails and Winds) is the title of the exhibition offered by the Palace of Valeriola of the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in Valencia, set within the framework of the Photographic Valencia initiative promoted by the Valencian Museum of Illustration and Modernity (MuVIM). Images taken by the official photographer of the Desafio Español (Spanish Challenge), a scale model of Bravo España that competed in the last America's Cup and a projection make up the display of Veles e Vents.
The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) is exhibiting A mano: Trabajos sobre papel de Elena del Rivero (By Hand: Work on Paper by Elena del Rivero). Play your part and come to the IVAM, you have got until December.
The exhibition, which had its opening last week, gathers together 120 works of art between drawings and installations produced by Elena del Rivero between 1992 and 2006. The drawings inspired by the epistolary tradition, form series such as Letter to the Mother initiated in 1992. This exhibition will be in Valencia until the coming month of December.

Singing Astaire is a new musical that celebrates the well known repertory that was popularised by the unique and unrepeatable Fred Astaire in his legendary films shot in black and white in Hollywood between the years 1930 and 1940.
Writing and Photography in the Avant Garde Czech Republic is the exhibition housed by the MuVIM until 24th September. The sample brings together everyday objects, books and photographs although these are but a small sample of what was producedin the country between 1918 and 1940. An exhibition organised by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York that will be held at the IVAM thanks to the Collaboration Agreement entered into by both institutions, whose objective is to show the work of this American artist, who has made a great impact with her vibrant colours and her abstract representation of everyday objects.
The exhibition Fuentes (Fountains), located on the esplanade of the IVAM, is made up of works created expressly by six artists for this trade fair, which will remain in Valencia until 14th October.

Manises, cradle of the ceramic artistic production, celebrates the Ceramics Party on July 14th, 15th and 16th and on Tuesday, July 18th the Cavalcade of the Ceramics, which convert the municipality for a few days into the centre stage where visitors can get a close-up knowledge of the procedures ceramic crafts production. The craftsmen leave their workshops for a few days and go out on the street to show their work. It is possible to observe all kinds of skills and procedures which is used to turn clay into a piece of craftwork.
Sagunto becomes once again, as like every year, into the Valencian capital of music, theatre and dance. For several days leading up to July 16th, day of Our Lady of Carmen, religious celebrations will take place, like the mass or the procession, an act in which the image of the Virgin is passed through the maritime neighborhoods or is later embarked at ports where people sail with her followed by many boats. This is a procession filled with emotion whereby people offer flowers, throw laurel in the water to remember the ones killed in the sea and sing the salve marinera.

The Palau de la Musica Jazz Festival is back. Concerts can be seen in the Sala Iturbi (Iturbi Hall) and also the traditional open-air shows, which are free of charge, in the Palace gardens. El Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) will house the exhibition Cuba. Vanguardias. 1920- 1940, until the 2nd of July. The display brings together 60 paintings from the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba.
The America's Cup returns to Valencian waters, after holding Acts 8 and 9 in Trapani. The Louis Vuitton Cup regattas are the ones which decide which of the challenging teams will have the right to compete in 2007 in the 32nd America's Cup against the defender, the Swiss team Alinghi. The regattas of Act 10, which is a match-race, will be from the 11th to the 16th of May. Act 11, which is a fleet-race, will be from the 19th to the 21st. Come to Valencia, and see the two regattas for yourself.
The Festival of Nations returns to Valencia from the 5th of May to the 4th of June 2006. As always, it is held in the Cauce del Rio or riverbed park next to the Calatrava bridge. This important multicultural, multiethnic and solidarity event is an exchange of cultures and races which shows us the music, gastronomy and culture of over 25 nations from the five continents.
The Gran Via Marques del Turia is the chosen setting for the German sculptor of Polish origin Igor Mitoraj to exhibit twenty-two of his mythological sculptures. The huge bronze pieces have come out of the museum to invade the centre of Valencia, after having visited Varsovia, Rome, Paris, Venice and Granada. Dansa València is an open window on to a choreographic vision of dance today. Between the 21st and the 23rd of April the Arenas beach holds the ninth edition of the International Kite-flying Competition Ciudad de Valencia". Wind permitting, the kites will brighten the dark Valencian night with their multicoloured and fluorescent lights, and during the day , with the sea as a backdrop, more than four thousand kites will dance in unison in a colourful three-ring circus. For three days, lightweight flat framework kites, such as those made by the New Zealander Peter Lynn, who is a master kite builder and has constructed the biggest kites in the world, will be the crowning glory of the skies over Valencia by day and night.
The Hijos de Cronos exhibition, which is being held in the Prehistoric Museum of the Diputacion Provincial de Valencia, is produced and organized by the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo savings bank. Each year the Cridà is the first massively attended act from the various celebrations in honour of Sant Jose. Celebrated on the last Sunday of the month of February, marks the official start of the Fallas, to which the whole world is invited.
The 29th edition of the Valencian Book Fair of old and discount books will take place from February 23rd through March 19th. This year, 39 participating establishments from around the country are represented on the Gran Via Marques del Turia, as usual, between Pizarro and Salamanca streets.
The VEO Festival will return from February 15th through the 26th. Theatre will be reinvented for the fourth year running at València Escena Oberta, a coming together of transgressive proposals programmed with the idea of creating the most contemporary experimental and innovative works, where all trends and styles are reflected. VEO transcends orthodox and purist theatre and dance.
VEO will allow us to enjoy the city of Valencia intensely and to become familiar with many of its spots, including the historic centre, the Jardin del Turia, in the theatre, the underground, or an old factory, where these suggestive and impacting works will be performed.
The Forumula 1 will try out its new models in Cheste. Nine of the ten motor-racing teams registered for the World Championship event will be getting their single-seaters ready on the Valencian racetrack from February 1st to the 3rd inclusive. Till February 3rd, the Racetrack will be the training venue for most of the motor-racing teams and their new single-seaters.
From February 1 to the 4th inclusive the Pasarela del Carmen, the greatest exponent of fashion in Valencia, will invade the Carmen. The old convent, which today is the Centro del Carmen, is the venue for the event, with well-known designers attending, such as Montesinos, Alex Vidal, the Cantante Calva, Tonuca, Hannibal Laguna, Dolores Cortes and Matilda, among others. Another novelty: the fashion show will coincide with the exhibit La Corona de Aragon, the best fashion and the most surprising history, without having to leave the convent.
The Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe of Valencia is hosting the exhibit entitled Las Maquinas de Leonardo (Leonardo's Machines) till February 24th. The exhibit includes 12 machine sculptures and reproductions of drawings that were done over 400 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci, architect, artist and thinker. You will be amazed at these original machines and devices, way ahead of their time, that were invented by the ingenious creator Leonardo da Vinci.
