The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) is exhibiting A mano: Trabajos sobre papel de Elena del Rivero (By Hand: Work on Paper by Elena del Rivero). Play your part and come to the IVAM, you have got until December.
The exhibition, which had its opening last week, gathers together 120 works of art between drawings and installations produced by Elena del Rivero between 1992 and 2006. The drawings inspired by the epistolary tradition, form series such as Letter to the Mother initiated in 1992. This exhibition will be in Valencia until the coming month of December.
The majority of the drawings have been done on paper, although, also on display are some that are sewn or embroidered on cloth or forming lines as if they were text. The second relevant element in this display are the large-scale installations mainly created out of paper in which the artist, in her materialisation of the creative process, employs techniques that are traditionally related to the work of the woman, such as sewing or embroidering.
