Fashion and history in a convent

From February 1 to the 4th inclusive the Pasarela del Carmen, the greatest exponent of fashion in Valencia, will invade the Carmen. The old convent, which today is the Centro del Carmen, is the venue for the event, with well-known designers attending, such as Montesinos, Alex Vidal, the Cantante Calva, Tonuca, Hannibal Laguna, Dolores Cortes and Matilda, among others. Another novelty: the fashion show will coincide with the exhibit La Corona de Aragon, the best fashion and the most surprising history, without having to leave the convent.

In this twelfth encounter the fashion show will welcome the autumn 2006 and winter 2007 designs by Francis Montesinos, CLC -La Cantante Calva- Alejandro Saez de la Torre, Jaime Piquer, Tonuca, NONA -Noelia Navarro, Manuel Fernandez, Theo Garrido, AnaMaria, Hannibal Laguna, Alex Vidal, Dolores Cortes, Matilda, Carlos Haro, Julio Diaz and Siglo Cero; as well as a group of 56 students. Coordinated by Francis Montesinos, the fashion show and performance, are called MODAKAOS.

Also several young and less known designers from around the country will be participating. The event welcomes the Valencians Rafa Sanchez, Monica Lavandera and Luxoir, Amelia Gil from the Canary Islands, Antonio Mancini from Cordoba, the Catalonian Miguel Serrano, with his Con faldas y a lo loco, and Jose Matteo from Galicia.

A particular novelty will be the fashion parade for Gabriel Segui, directed by Valencian Theo Garrido and Hannibal Laguna and Manuel Fernandez from Alicante, and the parade of innovative design called Crucero, organised by Dolores Cortes, from Castellon. The show will start with Palabras en silencio, a form of bringing fashion and the deaf closer together. Later Zona D will present its emerging creations. The most important show will take place in the Gothic cloister of the convent. In addition, two other areas in the building have been fitted out for parades.
