The exhibition that the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) dedicates to the figure of Sanleon revises, from a retrospective viewpoint, the evolution of the artistic career of this Valencian creator through 107 works, paying special attention to his last series on the Albufera of Valencia, and of a thought-provoking name: Al-Boeira. Jose Sanleon belongs to a generation of artists that, during the eighties, contributed, in an outstanding way, to the renovation of the national aesthetic panorama.
The exhibition that the Julio Gonzalez Centre is now presenting underlines the new plastic and thematic lines of research tackled by this creator during the last ten years of his career, and in particular his series Al-Boeira. Between 1993 and 1994 he already displayed his work inspired by cities such as Rome or New York in the IVAM.
