Go in-depth into this magnificent exhibition, which brings together almost 200 pieces and which tells how two masters in the art of stone of the 15th century, Pere Compte and Mateo Carnilivari, built one of the most beautiful buildings of the Gothic Mediterranean, declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The Valencia Fish Market opens its doors to you.
This magnificent exhibition, organised by the Valencia City Council and commissioned by Arturo Zaragoza, puts on display, until 31st March, under the title Pere Compte-Mateo Carnilivari, dos maestros del gotico mediterraneo. La Lonja (Pere Compte-Mateo Carnilivari: Two Masters of the Mediterranean Gothic. La Lonja), almost 200 pieces within the incomparable setting of the monument itself, the Valencian Market, declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Set within the events celebrating the fifth centenary of its construction and the tenth anniversary of the building as Heritage of Humanity, the exhibition aims to establish a parallelism between the figures of Pere Compte, master stonemason, and Mateo Carnilivari, architect, who worked in Valencia and Sicily.
The exhibition, which coincides with the end of the cleaning and restoration works on the façades and interior elements of the monument, which now presents an unaccustomed splendour, fundamentally talks of the "art of building". It is divided into 16 panels that include instruments such as Mediaeval compasses, craftsmanship in precious metals, Valencian architectural tiling and pieces of maximum interest.
The opening hours of the exhibition are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm and from 4:30 to 8:30pm and on Sundays and holidays from 10am to 3pm.
