Ruedas imaginary world at the IVAM in Valencia

The IVAM presents The imaginary musem (El museo imaginario), an exhibit containing Gerardo Rueda's private collection. Rueda, born in Madrid, was one of the most prominent figures in Spanish abstract painting throughout the 20th century. The collection includes art pieces and a wide array of objects acquired by Rueda himself throughout his life at different second-hand markets and antique stores. The exhibit opens at the IVAM / Museo de la Ciudad from November 15 until January 20, 2008.

The collection's interest lies not only in that it shows what was fashionable at a specific period in time. As a private collection, it also reflects the interests, curiosity, aesthetics and inspiration for the artwork of Gerardo Rueda.
