The Muralla hall of the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) will, until 20th May, be the venue of the exhibition El Pop en la Coleccion Grafica del MBA (Pop in the Graphic Collection of the MBA). The display, made up of 53 works belonging to the MBA collection, brings together the graphic work of some of the key names of North American pop art such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Robery Rauchenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Pietro Psaier, Mel Ramos and Robert Indiana. The exhibition constitutes a journey through the different variants of pop art, from its beginnings with artists like Rauchenberg, right up to its later development in the eighties with creators such as the late-lamented Haring.
The display, which brings together a selection of works from the MBA Group Collection, offers the possibility of following the course of the artistic avant-gardeness of pop art, which broke with all the established canons in the world of art and that was characterised by the constant references to advertising, billboarding, the consumer society and the serial production of artistic personages.
