February 2nd 2008 marked the 800th anniversary of the birth of King Jaume I of Aragon. On this date began a series of celebrations which will continue until February 2009 and include a series of major exhibitions that examine different facets of the monarch.
The exhibition Jaume I, Legislator, on at the City of Valencia Museum until January 4th, shows the pioneering nature of the city as regards its institutions which were founded on the basis of an independent territorial framework, linked to the hereditary estates of the King. At the same time, the Almudin exhibition hall will be offering Jaume I, King and Gentleman from November 13th to January 4th.
