From 5 to 9 June, the Marina Real Juan Carlos I in Valencia will be hosting an extraordinary nautical and community event with children's workshops and cooking demonstrations featuring the very best local produce. This is La Route des Princes, a sporting event expected to attract local residents and tourists alike into the city in search of good food, music, culture and first-rate entertainment.
Starting on Wednesday 5 and running through until Sunday 9 June, a full programme of activities suitable for all ages will be taking place at the Marina Real Juan Carlos I. Plus, the renowned Valencian chef Ricard Camarena will be leading a master class alongside other well-known local cooks. Everyone is invited to enjoy all kinds of leisure activities free of charge and connected with promoting locally sourced fresh food.
The sporting agenda includes two offshore regattas, on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 June, which spectators can follow from Malvarrosa beach. Vessels will follow two short, simple routes very close to the shore, so that people can watch the action.
On Sunday 9 June, the Route des Princes race sets off on its first stage from Valencia to Lisbon, in Portugal. After crossing the start line, the flotilla will head to Benicarló and turn around a buoy before making for the Strait of Gibraltar, where they will be venturing into Atlantic waters.
