This is the last opportunity to see Sorolla's paintings in Spain before they return to New York. Until 10th January, the Bancaja Cultural Centre will be home to this successful exhibition, entitled Vision de España. Sorolla en las colecciones de la Hispanic Society of America y de Bancaja (Vision of Spain. Sorolla in the collections of the Hispanic Society of America and Bancaja), featuring emblematic works such as Afternoon Sun.
Sorolla has returned to Valencia with a new proposal, comprising 48 paintings by the Valencian artist. This exhibition features works from the collections of the Hispanic Society and the Bancaja Collection, which have contributed 34 and 14 paintings, respectively. The Cultural Centre offers members of the public the chance to see Sorolla's work from a period spanning 36 years between 1883, the year of some of his earliest works such as Portrait of a lady or Praying nun, and 1919, when Sorolla painted Ayamonte. Returning with the catch, owned by the Hispanic Society.
