The exhibition Kingdom and City. Valencia in its History, which can be seen from 18th April to 15th July in the Centre del Carmen, in the historic centre of the city of Valencia, is organised by the Caja Madrid Foundation in collaboration with the Generalitat, the Region of Valencia Museum Consortium and the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia. The project poses a reflection on the history of Valencia stemming from its current prosperous reality, insisting on the historic signification of the physical, cultural and political space that makes up the Region of Valencia today.
The exhibition brings together 330 pieces that have come from 105 lenders, mostly museums, archives, libraries and private collectors. We are talking about a heterogeneous group of works and valuable objects, of documental and contextual importance for the articulation of the historic passage of time. The set of exhibits presents a great quantity of graphic documentation and valuable printed materials, amongst which one can highlight magnificent plans, illustrated books and unrivalled works of Valencian culture such as Tirant lo Blanch.
