They were built to bring the craft manufacturing, repairing and storehouse, consequently they played an important role in the maritime boom occurred in Valencia during the Middle-Age.
Built from 1377 on, the works elongated all over the XVth century and some renovations were made in the XVIth. Nowadays, only the central core remains. Each of them is composed by nine arches with pointed contour made of bricks leaning on rectangular pillars. The halls are communicated one to the other by eight minor pointed arches. The roof is made of double -sided wood with bricks moving to outside. Particularly remarkable are the four limestone gutters embellished by the city coat of arms that give testimony of the municipal leadership of the building.
Throughout the XVIth century, they lost little by little their initial purpose as a shipyard and were used as a grain and gunnery storehouse as well as a reception placejor authority figures.
In 1802, the city lost its property when giving them to the Royal Treasury as a debt payment. In 1840, they were itemised and sold to private individuals.
